Trucking demand about to soar as driver shortage bites miners: Bis CEO

Demand for trucking services in Australia’s mining industry will grow strongly in the decade ahead as new mines are built further away from fixed infrastructure, compounding the risk posed by the driver shortage that has hampered iron ore exports this year.

Logistics giant Bis Industries expects minerals trucking to deliver more than 50 per cent of its revenue within five years, up from 30 per cent this year, even as the company develops new technology product lines like the “Trifecta” driver safety system.
