Bis appoints Simon Atkinson as its new Chief Executive Officer

Chairman Graeme Hunt today announced Simon Atkinson would be its new Chief Executive Officer. He will take up the role on 1 February 2023.

The Board has thanked interim Chief Executive Officer, Michael Porter, for his significant contribution to the company. To ensure a smooth transition, Michael will continue in the interim role until Simon joins Bis and he will then resume his role as Chief Operating Officer.

Simon joins Bis from Pacific National where he has most recently been its Chief Financial Officer, after earlier leading the Freight business. Simon’s tenure included taking Pacific National through the financial uncertainty of the COVID19 economic downturn and market volatility and successfully maintaining Pacific National’s Investment Grade Credit Rating while refinancing the majority of the businesses loan book. Prior to Simon joining Pacific National, he led the Dyno Nobel International business based in the USA for four years and spent another four years leading the Dyno Nobel Asia Pacific business in Australia.

Simon is a global, safety, customer and people focused executive with a strong track record of success in strategy, HSE Leadership, people development, process optimisation and value creation through execution excellence.

Over the past 30 years, Simon has held a variety of directorial, leadership, finance and executive general management roles in some of Australia’s leading public and private companies/partnerships across a broad ranging geography. With a background in Finance and Capital Markets, in 2009 Simon ‘s career transitioned to international commercial and operational leadership in the USA, South Africa, Latin America, Asia, Europe and Australia.
