Bis announces CFO transition

Bis Chief Executive Officer, Simon Atkinson, has announced the commencement of a planned Chief Financial Officer transition.

After 21 years with Bis, including eight as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Steve Simpson will leave Bis on June 30, 2023, and will be replaced by incoming CFO, Andrew Thomson.

The Board and Simon convey their sincerest gratitude to Steve for his many valuable contributions to Bis. Some of his achievements include being instrumental in establishing the standalone business following Bis’ exit from Brambles, the company’s international opportunity efforts and leading a wide array of transaction projects such as the divestment of the Cleanaway business and the acquisitions of the Gulf Group, Powertrans and UGM.

Steve will remain at Bis over the coming months, as part of a planned leadership transition to Andrew.

While Andrew joins Bis from Pacific National where he was Chief Commercial Officer, his nearly 30 years of financial and strategy experience spans resources, infrastructure and facilities services organisations including roles at BHP, Broadspectrum (formerly Transfield Services), Greenhill, Helfen and HM Rothschild.

Commenting on Andrew’s appointment, Simon Atkinson said he is grateful to Steve and pleased to be welcoming Andrew to Bis.

‘Steve’s committed tenure, which stretches over two decades, is only matched by his expertise and passion for the resources and haulage industries. I know the entire Bis community wishes him well and thanks him for his down-to-earth leadership and focus on teamwork.

‘The selection and appointment of Andrew into the CFO role was deeply considered and deliberate. I have no doubt his commercial, financial and strategic experience will make a material impact to Bis moving forward.

‘I warmly welcome Andrew to Bis and look forward to a smooth transition period.’
