The art of the global deal in a pandemic

The coronavirus has meant the art of signing and nurturing deals with overseas partners now requires quick observation of flight cancellations and good internet connections. Deals are still being cut – witness Corporate Travel Management’s acquisition of a US rival and a takeover proposal for Coca-Cola Amatil from its European counterpart.
But it’s nowhere near as smooth a path as before, as Perth-based mining services outfit Bis found when putting the finishing touches to a joint venture with an Israeli partner. The plan had been bubbling for years to set up a joint venture to automate equipment – think converting mining trucks into remotely driven vehicles, for instance – between Bis and Israel Aerospace Industries.
