Humans of Bis – Leah

Our unique culture is built on the diverse contribution our people make, every day. Leah has been with Bis for over nine years, starting out in the business as Maintenance Coordinator and progressing into roles including Maintenance Admin Supervisor and Admin Store Person.

Leah now works as a Workshop Estimator, estimating repair jobs and generating scope of works for the tradespeople on the workshop floor. This includes all of the underground hire machinery in the Bis fleet that has been returned to the Tomago workshop.

Of the opportunities that Leah has been exposed to while working for Bis, she says “the change has been good. Sometimes you don’t think you want it, but it means you are forever learning new stuff. It’s been really good for me as I’ve been able to see all aspects of the business.”

Besides great career opportunities, what Leah loves about Bis is the people and the diversity. “Some of my closest friends are people that I’ve worked with here – everyone is really supportive and really friendly. It’s like a little family.”

“We’ve got female fitters in the workshop, and we’ve got females rising through the business into management roles. It’s really diverse, and you feel like opportunities are open to you as a female.”
