Johnny is our Resourcing Specialist and brought his 30 years of recruitment experience to Bis four years ago.
Originally from the east coast town of Napier in New Zealand and with Samoan heritage, Johnny migrated to Perth in 2002 and it is now the city he and his young family call home.
From his early years in New Zealand, Johnny had a love of sport, especially playing basketball with his two brothers, and has been able to continue to foster that passion after moving to Perth.
“Arriving in Australia and seeing how much sport really means to everybody here, really resonated with me and it didn’t take me long to find a team to play sport with, as well as an AFL team to follow – and start to feel at home here,” Jonny said.
Building a diverse and inclusive workplace is something Bis and Johnny are passionate about, and through the range of recruitment initiatives, he is continuously striving to make our workforce even more diverse and reflective of the communities in which we operate.
In his four years with Bis, Johnny has recruited more than 1200 employees into the business across the company’s operational and functional teams, and feels privileged to be able to contribute his ideas and experience to recruit the best candidates into the company.
“For every position I have actively sourced a range of diverse candidates for hiring managers to consider for each vacant role,” he said.
“Now, when I look around the Bis head office and see the range of faces from different cultures and backgrounds, I feel particularly proud of the contribution that I have made to increasing the cultural and gender diversity as part of my role here at Bis.”
“When I look in the mirror, I want to know that I’ve done all I can to change the face of Bis in this regard.”
