At Bis, our passion comes from the ground up and this is reflected in the people who work in our teams.
Meet Kate, who works at our operations in Gunnedah, where we provide a range of haulage solutions, underground equipment hire and site services. Kate’s journey with Bis begun 18 months ago as a truck driver, and she has since progressed into a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) traineeship, which she is completing in parallel with her new role.
When the WHS opportunity came up, Kate wanted to apply but didn’t have the right qualifications. With some determination and encouragement from her Bis colleagues, Kate decided to give it a go and hasn’t looked back. As part of the new role, Kate is studying a 12-month WHS course by distance which she says has been a great challenge.
Of the opportunity, Kate says she’s grateful that it came about through her employment with Bis as it’s something she wouldn’t have ordinarily looked into. Besides the career advancement opportunities, Kate says a good work-life balance and great people to work with are what she loves about Bis
