Bis secures two-year contract extension with BlueScope Steel

Leading resources logistics provider Bis has been awarded an extension to its long term materials handling contract with BlueScope Steel for its Port Kembla, NSW, operation.

Bis has been working with BlueScope Steel for more than 30 years and this latest renewal builds on a collaborative partnership focused on a well-established Continual Improvement programme, strict safety protocols, a strong innovation platform and the value adding initiatives.

A key component of the new contract is the continuation of proactive and planned equipment upgrades, replacements and improvements.

This includes the replacement of 17 existing forklifts and the addition of two new forklifts; which follows the identification of opportunities for improved productivity, enhanced safety systems and, operator ergonomics and comfort.

The Bis team has amounted over 130 years of site experience at Port Kembla.

Whilst building up this extensive knowledge of the steelworks’ operational functions, the team has maintained an ongoing  Zero-Harm safety record of Nil Lost Time Injuries (LTI’s).
