Independent Non-Executive Chairman
Charles Lenegan was appointed Chairman of Bis in July 2013.
A former Managing Director of Rio Tinto Australia, Charlie had a distinguished 27 year career with the company. During that time, Charlie held various senior Rio Tinto management positions across a range of commodities and geographies. Charlie is also a former Chairman of Rey Resources Limited and the Minerals Council of Australia and a former board member of the Business Council of Australia. Charlie holds a Non-Executive Directorship with Oz Minerals (since 2010).
Chief Executive Officer
Brad Rogers was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Bis in December 2015.
Brad has been a key member of Bis’ leadership team since 2008 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director in May 2015. Prior to this appointment, Brad served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer for five years. He has also led the company’s corporate development and commercial functions.
Before joining Bis, Brad was General Manager Corporate Development at GRD Limited, where he was responsible for group strategy, business incubation, corporate finance and investor relations. He also led GRD’s Global Renewables operating business in Australia and Asia for three years. Brad has also worked in management positions in the consulting practices of Mainsheet Corporate and Arthur Andersen.
Independent Non-Executive Director
John Beevers was appointed Non-Executive Director of Bis in July 2013.
John’s career in the mining, explosives and chemical industries spans more than 25 years. Having held a number of functional and management positions, John was with Orica for a period of 20 years, originally joining in 1985 in the Operations Division of Mining Services (Australia). John served as the Chief Executive Officer of Orica Mining Services of Orica Ltd from 2008 to 2013.
John has held a variety of senior management positions in mining services and manufacturing with leadership roles in technology, operations and business. In addition he has developed and gained a broad international experience base, having managed teams in North America, Europe, South Africa and Australasia.
Ian B. Jackson
Ian B. Jackson was appointed Non-Executive Director of Bis in January 2018.
Ian Jackson is a Managing Director and Co-Head of Carlyle Strategic Partners, focusing on distressed and special situation investment opportunities. He is based in London.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Jackson was a senior analyst with Deutsche Bank’s European Distressed Products Group in London for four years, investing across the capital structure from senior secured debt to equity, liquidations, refinancing, private equity and special situations. Prior to that, Mr. Jackson spent five years working for Deutsche Bank’s Japanese Distressed Products Group in Tokyo acquiring non-performing loan portfolios and trading Yen-denominated corporate bonds into U.S./European clients. Mr. Jackson currently serves on the Board of Directors of Sterling LLC, Brintons Carpets Limited and Nationwide Accident Repair Services and is the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Klenk Holz AG.
Agnieszka Pfieffer was appointed Non-Executive Director of Bis in January 2018.
Agnieszka Pfieffer is a Managing Director of Varde Partners, serving as the Head of Asia for Varde's Portfolio Value Creation Group. Based in Sydney, she joined the firm in 2016.
Prior to joining Värde, Agnieszka was a group general manager at Wesfarmers Industrial and Safety responsible for the operations of a portfolio of safety related businesses. Prior to that role, she held other senior positions at Gresham Private Equity, David Jones, Virgin Money and the Boston Consulting Group.
Merrill Goulding was appointed Non-Executive Director of Bis in January 2018.
Merrill Goulding is a Managing Director with Carlyle Strategic Partners, focusing on distressed and special situation investment opportunities. He is based in London.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Goulding was an Executive Director in the European Special Situations Group at Goldman Sachs in London, where he principally focused on making illiquid investments across the capital structure. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Mr. Goulding was employed by Cerberus European Capital Advisors in London where he invested in both control and non-control distressed situations. He has served on a number of boards as director or observer. Mr. Goulding began his career at Lazard & Co. in London.
Sandeep Chandak was appointed Non-Executive Director of Bis in January 2018.
Sandeep Chandak is an investment professional at Varde Partners. He joined in June 2016.
Prior to joining Värde, Sandeep was a Director at Deutsche Bank AG, trading in distressed loans and bonds, special situations and structured finance situations in Hong Kong.
